Last weekend my sister was visiting and we decided to participate in YYC Hot Chocolate Fest, a competition to determine which Calgary coffee shop makes the best cup of steamy delicious hot cocoa. There are over 15 coffee shops in the competition, so obviously we didn’t get around to tasting them all, but we did sample all of the ones near 17th Ave.
The one at Waves was delicious, it tasted like Hedgehogs from Purdy’s chocolates, but I have to say my favourite was the Indian Spiced Chocolate from Analog Coffee on 17th. I’m a huge fan of the Chai Latte, so I knew it would be amazing. Not only did I fall in love with the hot chocolate, the actual coffee shop was one of the coolest (and busiest) I’ve been to. I loved the eclectic decor and the fact that they use locally roasted Fratello beans, which you can also buy at the Calgary Farmer's Market. Definitely a must-visit when you come to Calgary.
The contest is only running for the month of February, so if you want to participate you only have a few more days! Don't forget to go online and vote for your favourite before March 1st!
Hope you all had a great weekend!
Kari
